Imagine you are standing on the beach alone. Think of the smell of the ocean air, the feel of the sand between your toes,

the sounds of waves crashing the shoreline and seagulls flying overhead, the sun beating down on your face and the taste of an ice cold beverage in your hand. For people in the northern states, this is the closest they will come to experiencing the beach – in their dreams and thoughts. That is, unless they visit a snowy lake or are snowbirds escaping the harsh winters for a few months in Florida.

Our residents, employees and prospects are lucky. They live and work near the beaches. John Knox Village is only about two miles from the glistening waters off Pompano Beach. With a coastline that stretches over 360 miles, Florida’s east coast offers an incredible beach lifestyle that offers numerous benefits.

“All my life I have lived near or on the beach,” said resident Boots Maurer. “As a child I lived two blocks from Chesapeake Bay, and I spent a lot of time with my friends at the beach. When I go now, it brings back very fond memories, and it is very calming and peaceful.”

“Whenever my husband and I knew there would be a full moon, we would sit on the beach, sip a glass of wine and watch the moon rise – very romantic and very beautiful,” resident Barbara Logan said.

For others, like resident George Percival, the beach is the ideal place to exercise, enjoy a variety of dining venues and/or just people watching. George, who graces the cover of this month’s issue, has his favorite eateries, some near John Knox Village and others in Sarasota where he had a house near Meadows Country Club.

Some other benefits of beach life include lifting up a person’s overall mood, energy of mind and physical wellness. This is inspired living!
