Volunteers Maintain the Lighthouse 

As a volunteer, Hib works with both the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary to help maintain the lighthouse and arrange tours of the historic site.

The Hillsboro Lighthouse is an active light and is fully functioning. It serves as an active aid to navigation under the auspices of the US Coast Guard, which is now under the Department of Homeland Security.

One of the volunteers joining Hib as tour guide is Christina Doone, FSO, Publications 2015 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 37. She is a frequent volunteer for the lighthouse tours and is impressed with Hib’s dedication.  Read more inside (Click to open PDF in new window)
