POMPANO BEACH – 6/17/2015 – On Friday night, June 5, 11 deserving Broward County seniors were recognized during an awards dinner celebrating the “Silver Angels” by John Knox Village for their charitable works in support of their churches.
The Silver Angel Awards were created eight years ago as part of John Knox Village’s 40th Anniversary celebration. The Awards recognize deserving seniors, most of whom are not residents of John Knox Village and who show a true sense of charity in their dedication to a cause or need and have selflessly aided others with his or her time, talents and efforts. This award celebrates people who quietly go about their good works in a true sense of humanitarian charity.
Churches from the Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale area were asked to submit nominations of those deserving recognition as a Silver Angel. In all, 11 nominations were received for the 2015 Silver Angel Awards.
John Knox Village President Robert Scharmann congratulated the Silver Angels for their charitable works.
“Our John Knox Village residents share their volunteerism passion,” he said. “We have more than 400 residents who volunteer in one or more ways on our 65-acre campus and within the greater community. We are proud to recognize the places of worship, which thrive because of caring individuals within their congregations.”
