“Joining our community at an earlier age allows the resident to settle into the lifestyle and enjoy the amenities for many years longer than someone who is older,” said John Knox Village Life Care Counselor Susan Lawrence. “The social benefits and peace of mind moving into a community like ours takes away a lot of stress people feel as they age.”
There are other criteria for admission when considering independent living at John Knox Village, one of the premier 55+ communities in South Florida.
Prospective residents must be physically and mentally able to live independently and cannot be diagnosed with any form of Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Long-time John Knox Village resident Edna Dusel moved into a spacious villa when she was 62, and her husband was a few years older.
“We like to travel,” Edna recalled. “We wanted to secure our finances .”
“To do that, we decided, by moving into John Knox Village, we would not have to pay the exorbitant fees of nursing care, should we need it. In our eyes, moving into John Knox Village at a younger age helped us find a secure place to live without having to worry about the long-term, financial effects of aging,” Edna added.
